Dave and Gill McIntosh were preparing for the birth of their second child but Covid-19 changed everything…
Dave has been one of our closest friends for over 18 years, this friendship expanded when he met his wife, Gill in 2015.
Dave and Gill were planning to celebrate the birth of their second child in a couple of weeks, instead, Gill is on life support in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) while her husband prepares to bring their new baby boy home, alone.
Gill was diagnosed with COVID-19 on November 6th (we still do not know when or how she contracted it), she was admitted to hospital a few days later as it became more difficult to breathe. By November 10th, her condition deteriorated to the point where she required a ventilator to help her breathe. To complicate the situation, Gill was two days shy of 36 weeks pregnant and the doctors knew they had to get the baby out before it was too late.
Their beautiful baby boy was born by emergency C-section the evening of November 10th. The baby boy was delivered healthy, COVID-negative and continues to be monitored in the NICU. With Dad and big sister home on quarantine awaiting their own COVID-19 test results, this sweet baby spent the first 36 hours of life without Mom or Dad until negative test results were delivered for Dad, Dave.
Gill remains in critical condition while her husband prepares to be a single father of a toddler and newborn until Gill is well enough to come home. Please help this couple who waited for the surprise of a baby girl or baby boy… this couple who has yet to name their child… this mom who doesn’t even know yet her beautiful baby boy is alive and doing well.
We are all starting to realize the huge financial impact this situation has and will have on the family as Dave must stay home from his full time job to take care of their kids.
There is so much unknown right now and we are hoping to help relieve some of the financial stress through a successful campaign. Funds raised will help prepare for the expenses associated with having a new baby (diapers, formula) and pay the bills (mortgage, hydro, etc.) while Gill recovers and Dave is home from work. We know that Gill has a big fight ahead of her and then a long road of recovery; we are trying to prepare for her long term needs.
We want to express our sincere gratitude to anyone able to donate during this very difficult time. If you are unable to donate, please share.
