Venus McCrea Winston (1982-2016) was a wonderfully talented woman. To know her was to love her. She was an inspiring artist and devoted mother who valiantly battled cancer.
Though as an artist, Venus expressed herself through her art and when diagnosed, she fought back and educated others through a cookbook,which was internationally recognized and created a comic book to express her journey with cancer in the hopes of showing others that have been diagnosed that they are not alone.
Tragically in December 2016, Venus lost her battle with cancer. Her legacy is so powerful that we want to open a comic book shop in her memory and name it after her.
This comic book shop has been a life long dream of ours and to dedicate it to our dear friend and to such a worth while cause will be a great for the community.
The donated funds would go to getting the store off the ground, i.e. rent, fixtures, inventory etc. We will be carrying major titles while providing an opportunity for independent titles as well. We can’t do it without you. Here’s how you can help. By helping to fund this cause, once the location is open, proceeds from the store will be donated to cancer research and finding a cure.
