My son David, has just passed his sixth form with all As and has been given an admission to study Architecture in the University of Manchester. His initial application was made to University of Sheffield where he applied for asylum seeker’s scholarship; only to be told at the last minute that his application was unsuccessful.
David, his siblings and I were very happy when he got another admission to the University of Manchester afterwards!
Following his fee assessment, David was assessed as an international student which means paying £22,000 p/a.
This news brought panic to us as David has been in the UK now for 7 years. As a person seeking asylum, I live on £35 a week as it is illegal for me to work whilst waiting for my application to be resolved.

I have no means of supporting my son, David to pay this fee. All other funding applications are now closed for 2018. David achieved As in all his A levels, the best I can do as a mother is to rally round to support him get started with his dreams of becoming an Architect.
