Los Angeles, CA January 25, 2023 – Anais Gimeno, a Master’s Degree holder in Education from the Philippines, is in dire need of bladder augmentation surgery due to her inborn urinary incontinence. Growing up with this illness has not been easy for her as she has faced bullying and struggles with her job as a substitute teacher in a mountainous area of her country.
Anais was born with a stage 4 left kidney and a stage 1 right kidney. At a young age, she was rushed to the National Kidney Institute in the Philippines, where a hole was made under her navel to alleviate her condition. Although her kidneys have since stabilized, she still suffers from inborn urinary incontinence and must wear a modified garter with plastic or diapers to hold her urine.
Despite her struggles, Anais is determined to live a normal life and continue teaching. She is currently raising funds through a GoGetFunding campaign to pay for her bladder augmentation surgery, set to take place on April 20, 2023.
“I know it ain’t no picnic living with this illness, but I ain’t the type to lay down and take it lying down,” said Anais. “I’m determined to get this surgery and get back to teaching and living the life I want. I’m asking for your assistance so I can get this surgery and turn my lemons into lemonade.”
The procedure is costly and not covered by insurance, which is why Anais and her family are reaching out to the community for support. They hope to raise enough funds to cover the cost of the surgery, as well as any post-operative expenses and rehabilitation costs.
