We are a small team of one British person, one Palestinian from Gaza and an Australian, running a campaign to raise awareness of the plight of children in Gaza, and trying to raise funds to feed, clothe, provide blankets, and basic essentials to poor children in Gaza.
In this campaign, we are focusing in particular on the father of 2 baby twins ( very close to my heart, as I have twins too, though older), who, through no fault of his own has got into debt attempting to find work to look after his twins and family. As a result of the cruel blockade, siege, constant bombing of the Israelis on Gaza, the infrastructure of this tiny stretch of land is collapsing daily.
Fishing, which provided work for the majority of Gazans, has been seriously curtailed as fishermen are not permitted to go beyond 3 miles of the Gazan shore, where very few fish can be found. Unemployment is said to be the highest in the world, with estimates between 50% -78%!! As a result, the father of the twins Alah and Ghusan, was unable to pay back his debts, was helped a little by the UNCHR, but as they are having to help so many people in Gaza, he was left with a debt still of $700!
While he is languishing in prison for such a paltry amount, his young twins are facing starvation, lack of milk and nappies, and with the onset of winter and the tiny room they live in, with holes in the roof and walls, will probably not survive! Therefore we are desperately trying to raise at least $700 ( we have about $370, at the moment, to free the father, but hopefully we can raise more.
