Parkinson’s Service Dogs Hello! I was diagnosed with Young Onset Parkinson’s Disease in my late 40’s. I’ve have made many attempts to obtain a “Free” Mobility Service Dog through many organizations and support groups.
Unfortunately, I’ve received many rejections letter or emails. Either they don’t have or train mobility service dogs, require a large sum of money to receive one, and or the waiting list is a year or more to be able to obtain a dog.
I have experienced many falls at home, thankfully none severe enough to send me to the ER, but as my doctor said, “the next fall may injure you enough to need immediate medical attention”.
This of course makes for a worried wife who does not like to leave me alone for too long.
I also many other medical problems that have been diagnosed by many different specialists.

REM Sleep Behavior Disorder
Depression & Anxiety
Multiple site Osteoarthritis
Hypertension
Chronic Insomnia
Excessive daytime sleepiness
Yes, I have been blessed to have a team of 5 doctors/specialists and a supportive wife to help with all of the above.
Every doctor has stated that exercise is an excellent way to help with all of my issues and would increase my quality of life. However, as we all know even a healthy person needs some type of motivation to exercise daily. When you are faced with nothing but a laundry list of excuses why you don’t feel like walking for 30 minutes a day or simply getting outside for some fresh air for a while is where the motivation of a Mobility Service Dog can wash away all of your excuses!
My efforts to even save money have been recently been dashed as my wife was laid-off from her job and I’m am still waiting for approval from Social Security for disability.
I know there are hundreds of other people on gofundme who have more serious & urgent needs than myself. I also have enough faith in humanity that there enough people who can help.
