Marsha was a teacher for 37 years and in retirement volunteered in her grandson’s school, teaching reading and math, and eating with the children in the lunch room, continuing her interaction with children as she had done while teaching.
Marsha was my son’s first grade teacher 33 years ago. He fell in love with her and so did I. She married me and my three children 7 days after that school year. Despite severe health limitations from rheumatoid arthritis, Graves Disease, and breast cancer, Marsha was a Scout leader, participating in camping, canoeing, and backpacking, as well a providing leadership in school activities. For many years she (we) provided supplies and clothing for children in need.
She observed that children that don’t qualify for free lunch are denied milk or lunch without sufficient funds in their account. Marsha’s lifetime dedication to children was cut short with pneumonia and subsequent death due to complications with rheumatoid arthritis and interstitial lung disease.
This go fund me would establish a perpetual fund to provide lunch and supplies for children in need at this school in an area slipping out of the middle class. The funds will be administered by the principal. I, Marsha’s widower (Steve Marty) will be in charge of final expenses
