My wife has been sick for several months and we have fallen very far behind in our finances. We are fighting an eviction and need help with prescriptions among other things.

I am a husband of 12 years and a father of 12 year old twins and a 4 year old. Since we had twins very early in our life together, I have been the provider while my wife stays home with our children. As any family we experience tough times, and usually that means I work more and try to find a way to compensate our losses. My wife has been sick for months, this time I can not keep up with our needs and my family is in danger of very serious consequences. Please help me get back on track.

In December my wife started to feel sick, so I would stay home a little more than normal to help her. No big deal normally, I can just work a few extra hours each day to make up for it later. By January the trips to the hospital began and I wasn’t working at all. She was experiencing severe abdominal pain and couldn’t hold anything down.

While waiting for the soonest available specialist appointment through February she had been to the ER around 10 times, twice by ambulance. Some of these trips would last several days, each time coming home with new prescriptions. After the second ambulance trip I was able to speed up the specialist appointments and get her in sooner.

Though she is not feeling 100% yet, the ER visits have stopped and I have been able to get some time in working. Through most of our time together I have held 2 or 3 jobs at a time, I’m no stranger to long hours. The problem is that won’t be enough.  I have spent hundreds on prescriptions so far and 600 on car repairs, all with no money coming in.

At the time I am writing this we are facing an eviction Feb 26th. I owe our landlord $1700 in rent, with an additional $850 due in a week.

I owe an attorney $175 that was due a week ago for a car accident I was in 3 years ago. They aren’t so friendly when they don’t get paid. They have had my license suspended in the past over payment, I drive for a living.

My bank is nearly $1200 in the negative.

I owe about $900 on a car title loan I took to help through December. It is awful, but I expected to be able to work to pay it off quickly and my credit doesn’t give me many options right now.

I owe about $900 in past due bills, and $154 gas bill due in a week.

I have worked about 35 hours in the past 3 days, and will be working another 12 today. Currently I have about $430 that will reach me on Feb 28th, plus what I earn today.  My wife has 2 appointments this week, I will work as much as possible on those days and 12 or more hours each day with no days off until everything is paid for.

Our twins had their birthday this week. All I could do is spend some time with them and let them share a small ice cream cake. They were so mature about it and said that presents aren’t important.

As a father who works hard for his family, to have my wife in so much pain for so long, to not be able give my children more for their special day, to bear the weight of this financial stress while trying to keep my family free from worry so my wife can heal… I’m hurting so much inside.

With your help we can keep our home, get back on track, and keep going. We can make up our kids birthday when we are able, we can pay off our debts and continue to work hard. There’s nothing I can do to take away the pain my wife is enduring, but I won’t stop doing anything I can to take care of her.

Once our needs are met I will take this down and take care of my family on my own again.  Anything you can do to help us is appreciated. Whether it’s simply sharing this message or any size donation, anything helps and we are truly thankful.
