My name is Suncita Ferrer. In 2010 I left Venezuela with only a few things to escape Communism.
I had to start all over again at the age of 60. A year and a half ago I was diagnosed with Colon Cancer and had to have emergency surgery.
I had to undergo 6 months of chemotherapy and during that time, I lost a lot of my clients, and along with them, income.
I have been trying to get back on my feet since then and then last year, my sister Alicia Ferrer was diagnosed with Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP).
She is 69 years old. Being that it is such a rare disease, although she has Medicare, her medications are very expensive, needs healthcare workers daily to help her get around (she falls constantly) and I cannot afford to pay over $2,000 per month in caring for her.
I applied to Medical here in California and she was rejected.
I am trying to place her in subsidized housing but there is a 1-year waiting list. I have opened this Gofundme to help her with her expenses.
