This GoFundME page was created to help my Mother (Kandi Fowler)
to regain mobility…It is with a heavy heart that I request
your prayers and assistance in this great time of need. Fifteen
years ago my Mother was in a car vs. train accident and
suffered from severe liver lacerations and a severely crushed
spleen, both injuries required emergency surgeries and she died
twice and was revived. She was then diagnosed with ARDS (Acute
respiratory distress syndrome) and had to be put on a
ventilator because the fluids in her lungs wasn’t allowing her
to breath on her own. Acute respiratory distress syndrome is a
rapidly progressive disease occurring in critically ill
patients. The main complication in ARDS is that fluid leaks
into the lungs making breathing difficult or impossible.it is a
sudden and serious lung failure. It left her in a coma and was
hospitalized for 35 days. After coming out of the coma she was
diagnosed with a DVT and had to undergo another surgery to have
a filter inserted through a vein in her neck to catch blood
clots and stops them from moving up to the heart and lungs.
This helps to prevent a pulmonary embolism. A few days after
they got her weaned from the ventilator to oxygen they moved
her from ICU to the TCU unit; at that time they were making her
go through rehabilitation and since she couldn’t breath very
well and with her pulse ox dropping with movement or talking
she couldn’t do the rehab except for trying to walk a few steps
at a time. I think they just gave up on her, they said there
were nothing else they could do for her and said she would
probably recover better at home. After going home her legs
started swelling really bad and turned colors like they were
bruised and she had trouble walking on them and after having to
be checked out by several doctors and a specialist they
diagnosed her with Lymphedemia in both legs in which it limits
her mobility and causes her a great deal of pain. Then after a
year or so she was diagnosed with an incisional hernia and had
to go through an incisional hernia surgery where they insert
mesh to repair it. With her lungs damaged it took them over a
month to prepare my Mother for the surgery and the surgeon said
that she had a very slim chance of surviving the surgery with
being put under anesthesia, they were afraid with her lungs as
bad as they are that she would never wake up or her lungs
would fill with fluids again and she wouldn’t survive it. By
God’s grace and mercy she survived and is still here with us
today. Even though she suffers with multiple health issues she
has not given up. God didn’t bring her this far to just give
up, He had to have a reason for her to live and must have a
plan in this life for her. One of her illnesses is not hardly
being able to walk because of swelling and pain in both her
legs and her recent diagnosis was nerve damage in her legs, it
seems like there’s always some new health issue every time she
has a problem with pain and gets tests done. Anyway, getting
back to the purpose of why I created this page is to try to get
donations for her to be able to purchase a handicapped equipped
vehicle. With this she could be able to get back and forth to
her doctors appointments and rehab more easily. This would make
a great impact in her life and would also be very beneficial
for her to be able to go out and enjoy the rest of her life and
be a part of everyday living instead of confining herself to
being home all the time because of her health issues limiting
her from enjoying life the way she use to do. I know that there
are still loving and caring people and I would like to ask you
at this time to please consider Donating and Sharing. Anything
you can donate will make a significant difference and will very
much appreciated.
